Difference between the Communication Process and Communication Model
The communication process and model are just like the two sides of the same coin. In spite of many similarities between these two, they differ on the following grounds:

| Definition | The method which is used to exchange information between two or more persons is called the communication process. | When the communication process is represented by any figure or, a visual method is commonly known as a communication model. |
| Nature | It is a theoretical concept. | It is a symbolic and pictorial representation. |
| Phases | Generally, it has seven (7) phases i.e.

| Channel | It can be explained by radio and television both | It can be explained only with the help of television. |
| Designing | No need for an expert to design such | Specially trained workers are required to draw a communication model. |
| Wastage of time | Making as wells explanation of the communication process requires time | It needs comparatively less time to draw pictures and graphs |
| Complexity | It is a complex matter being narrative in nature | It is presented in a simple way |
| Effectiveness | The communication process describes a communication system theoretically. So it has a limited effect on the users. | The communication model being symbolic has more effect on the mind of a user. |
| Identification of fault and defect. | It is very difficult to identify faults and defects in the communication process because it is narrative in nature. | Fault and defect are easily located in the communication model because it is visible. |
